Healing.
Empowerment.
Transformation.
I'm Heather Dempsey - therapeutic coach, hypnotherapist, and founder of the Self-Care Center in Venice, Florida.
I work with people who feel everything. The highly sensitive ones. The empaths and deep feelers. The introverts. The ones who love with every ounce of their being - and still feel a little lonely, a little empty, and can't quite put their finger on why.
You know the type, because you probably are one. You read the room before you walk into it. You catch the shift in someone's tone, the thing nobody else caught, the mood in the corner. And you don't just notice it - you fix it. You smooth it over, you carry it, you make sure everyone around you is okay.
And you're good at it. You've been good at it your whole life.
Somewhere along the way, your sensitivity became a kind of superpower. Feeling everything, catching what other people missed, sensing what a person needed before they said it - it made you capable in a way most people never learn to be. You could walk into almost any situation and handle it.
And it worked. It got you through things that would have set most people back for months. It's also earned you a lot of praise. People see how smart you are, how accomplished, how capable, how much you can carry.
But it costs something big.
It's why you're always a little on alert - scanning, anticipating, ready. It's why you give and give and give. And it may have quietly become the way you stopped noticing your own needs - because somewhere along the line, you learned that no one was going to meet them anyway.
It's a strategy. A smart one, built by someone who learned early that staying tuned to everyone else was the safest way to be. It just stopped being the thing that serves you.
Underneath the person who has it all handled is a softer, more tender you - one who's been waiting a long time to feel safe enough that your worth isn't riding on what you accomplish or how needed you are. To be known - actually known - instead of just admired for how well you hold it all together.
That's who I work with. And that's the work I do.
What we work
on together
- Softening the inner critic that never lets you rest.
- Learning to trust yourself - maybe for the first time.
- Shifting the patterns underneath the ones you can already name.
- Building relationships where you don't have to perform to be loved.
- Feeling calm, clear, and connected - in your life, your work, and inside yourself.
Who I work
best with
My clients tend to feel the connection before we ever meet.
They're sensitive, thoughtful, and self-aware. They've read the books. A lot of them have done therapy. They understand themselves intellectually - and the same patterns keep showing up anyway, in their relationships, their leadership, the 2am replay of the thing they said in the meeting.
They've been called "too much" or "too emotional" more than once.
They've often achieved a lot and still feel like they're chasing a finish line that keeps moving.
They're the ones everyone else calls when something's wrong. They've just never really had that for themselves - someone in their corner when they're the one who needs it.
If that's you, you're in the right place. And you're not doing this alone.
Why my approach
is different
Over 30+ years, I've collected more than 150 certifications - trauma-informed coaching, hypnotherapy, attachment work, energy medicine, somatic work, NLP, and business strategy among them.
But the certifications aren't the point. What actually changes things is how I put them together for the specific person in front of me. There's no script. No cookie-cutter program you get slotted into. It's a blend of science, intuition, and hard-won experience, built around you.
Why I understand
For most of my life, being sensitive felt like a curse.
As a kid, I'd get sick anytime we traveled somewhere unfamiliar - my body's way of saying "this is too much" before I had words for it. I cried more than anyone I knew. I couldn't stomach violence on a screen or bad news without feeling it in my gut. Animals were my safe place. Nursing tiny kittens back to health made me feel grounded and useful. Still does.
Nobody told me being highly sensitive was a real thing. I just knew I felt everything, loudly, and that people said they had to walk on eggshells around me. I never meant to make anyone uncomfortable. I just didn't know how to stop feeling everything.
Then life came apart in a way I couldn't outrun. I lost my brother. A few months later, my marriage ended. I dropped 30 pounds in two months and felt like I was disappearing - and part of me wanted to. Then came a fertility diagnosis, and the realization that the relationship I was in was hurting me. I was diagnosed with PTSD.
I did the work anyway. I got stronger. And I believed that if we both kept healing, maybe we could make it work - so I stayed, long distance by then, and gave it everything. After more than ten years, I learned he'd been living a double life. The therapist we'd worked with gave him a diagnosis that could have broken a person.
It didn't break me. It taught me. About how deep denial can run. How long we'll work to save something. How completely someone can fool us when we want to believe in them. And that we can come through it - with the right tools - and be better for the very thing that was meant to break us.
I tried everything I could get my hands on. Therapy, hypnotherapy, EMDR, energy work, mindset work, spiritual exploration - all of it. Some of it helped. Some opened doors I didn't know existed.
What I finally understood is that there's no single magic fix. There's a recipe. A specific combination of the right things at the right time - and what you need shifts as you do. All those years of study suddenly made sense. I wasn't collecting modalities for no reason. I was learning how to build the right recipe for the person in front of me.
That's the work I do now.
So if you've been told you're too sensitive. If you've felt stuck, small, or invisible. If you've tried other things and they didn't hold. If you want more out of your life than what you've had so far -
You're exactly who I built this for.
When we work together, I won't only see your pain. I'll see your power. I'll meet you where you are and help you find the version of you you haven't been able to be yet - not someone new, just you, with a lot less weight to carry.
Underneath the person who has it all handled is a softer, more tender you - one who's been waiting a long time to feel safe enough that your worth isn't riding on what you accomplish or how needed you are. To be known - actually known - instead of just admired for how well you hold it all together.

The Self-Care Center
In-person services including coaching, massage, skincare, Reiki, sound therapy, and more.
Why the Self-Care Center exists
While I love working globally and virtually, there is something very sweet about working in person — which is why the Self-Care Center on Venice Island exists. We've been lovingly nicknamed "the healing house," and we're rewriting what self-care means. This isn't just about bubble baths and spa days — it's daily, practical, life-affirming healing.
We blend science and soul to address what's happening beneath the surface. We believe self-care is healthcare — especially for those who feel deeply and give generously.
Whether you're looking for energy healing, nervous system support, intuitive strategy, or holistic facials and massage therapy that nourish from the inside out, we've got you covered. If you aren't sure what you're looking for, we can help you figure it out.

My clients are emotionally curious, spiritually open, and ready for real transformation. They're the ones who've "tried it all" but are still searching for something deeper, more effective, and truly personalized.
If that's you — this space was created for you.
Not just a business. A calling.
I believe all of my traumas and healing explorations were to prepare me to hold space, relate, and support others. Grief, trauma, burnout, and reinvention shaped the person I am — and the work I now share with others.
After losing loved ones, walking away from toxic relationships, and being diagnosed with PTSD, I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about how to truly heal — and help others do the same.
Now, I support others in creating lives and businesses that feel like home. Ones that are emotionally sustainable, energetically aligned, and built around who they truly are — not who they've been told to be.
You're not too sensitive. You're tuned in.
You're not meant to keep pushing through, shrinking down, or carrying it all on your own. There's another way — and if you're ready to explore it, I'd love to walk beside you.
Some people call what I do mindset or coaching; others may think it's business strategy and consulting. With this level of experience, intuition, and training, our work together goes much deeper than any of those things. The work we do together is magic, and it transforms your life (and business) in a way that simple mindset work, coaching, or consulting just isn't capable of doing.
